West Jordan at a Glance
Established in 1847 by noted Mormon dignitary, Brigham Young, West Jordan is one of Salt Lake City’s largest suburbs. Named after its location west
of the Jordan River, this city is home to some of Utah’s oldest
architectural structures, many of which can be found in Gardner Village. A popular
tourist destination, Gardner Village contains over 25 locally owned and operated restaurants and boutiques housed
in restored sawmills, barns and cottages. In the summer months, visitors to West Jordan can enjoy several
exhibitions and activities such as hiking through the Wasatch Range, or attending the Western Stampede, a three-day
event that takes place every July and features a parade, fireworks display and an officially sanctioned PRCA rodeo
competition. The winter months bring about a plethora of outdoor adventures for tourists to enjoy, most notably
skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing in the nearby Oquirrh Mountains.
